A Journey of Saadat Hasan Manto
Born in Ludhiana, Sa’adat Hasan Manto was a writer, playwright, and author. He published 22 collections of short stories, a book, five series of radio plays, three collections of essays, and two collections of personal sketches, all written in Urdu. Writers and critics alike praise his best short pieces. He is well known for his accounts of India’s division, which he opposed soon after independence in 1947. Manto was tried for obscenity six times, three times before 1947 in British India and three times after Pakistan’s independence in 1947, but he was never found guilty. He is one among the most prominent writers of all time. Mantoiyat, an event organized by The Modern Poets, is an effort to pay homage to the legendary writer.
About The Event
On the auspicious occasion of his birth anniversary, Mantoiyat is a musical, theatrical, and storytelling show devoted to the great writer and storyteller Sa’adat Hasan Manto. The show will start sharp at 6:30pm on 8th May 2022 in Five Elementz.
Various spellbinding performances are lined up for the show. Firstly, a musical tribute to Manto will be presented by Gaurang Sahu & Rohan Nair. It will be followed by Manto-Naama by Utkarsh Chaturvedi. Heading forward, Diksha Adhikari will narrate Manto Ki Auratein. Nextly, Mukhavran Theatre will present an act spelled as Tarruf e Manto. Advancing to next performance, Anas and Prachi will present Ismat Vs Manto. Nextly, Ojaswe and Mohit will present a rap tribute to Manto. It will be followed by Anshul Joshi’s Aaj ka Manto. The show will be concluded by Kahanibaaz. He’ll present Toba Tek Singh Prequal.
